a day it forgot to rain
You can't have redwoods without a little rain. Thankfully for Chris and Chelsea's wedding at Moonstone Beach, it turned out to be a day it forgot to rain.
Instead of being wet and squishy, we were treated to weather that was downright cinematic. A soft golden glow enveloped their ceremony on the bluff above the beach and the sun burned just enough of the haze away to give us peeks of blue sky for their couple's portraits afterwards.
The most excited member of their wedding party was Chelsea's sweet dog Lupin. His joyful exuberance and adorable doggie-ness added just the right amount of lighthearted fun to a deeply moving exchange of vows. I just love when couples can include their four legged family members.

among the wildflowers
Chris and Chelsea's reception was a warm welcoming hug that invited their people into the home they chose for themselves, Humboldt.
The offerings of smoky barbeque and sweet pies felt like the very best of a home cooked meal. The guest tables were graced with bouquets and miniature pumpkins that felt home grown and hand picked. Instead of traditional favors, their guests received packets of wildflower seeds to sow and grow a memory of the day.
The toasts were the perfect blend of heartfelt and hilarious. Tears and laughter flowed one into the other while everyone sipped the couple's favorite cocktails.
Among the wildflowers by Tom Petty was chosen for their first dance and the 80s jams that followed got everyone dancing. My time ended taking one last photograph of them enveloped by friends on the dance floor while Talking Heads played on the speakers. So much nostalgia and so much joy.
